Peoria Civic Center Gingerbread House Charity
November 24, 2010 (Peoria, IL) - The Peoria Civic Center will host "Gingerbread Houses for Charity", a gingerbread house competition between local chefs, November 26 - December 15, 2010. Centerplate, the Heart of Illinois Professional Chef's Association and the American Culinary Federation will partner with the Peoria Civic Center to present this event. Proceeds will benefit PARC.
Gingerbread Houses for Charity will kick-off on November 26, 2010. People downtown for the Santa Claus Parade and Yule Like Peoria will get the first look at the six gingerbread houses created by local chefs that will be on display in the Peoria Civic Center's Great Hall. The public will be invited to vote for their favorite house by purchasing ballots at the Box Office. Voting ballots will be $1 each or 6 ballots for $5. Patrons will also be able to bid to take home their favorite house through a silent auction. All money collected through the sale of voting ballots and the silent auction will be donated to PARC.
The last opportunity to vote will be during the Peoria Journal Star Christmas Sing, which will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Great Hall on December 15, 2010, at 7 p.m. The winners will be announced the following morning.
Patrons are encouraged to vote when attending events at the Peoria Civic Center, including Peoria Rivermen hockey games, Bradley University men's basketball games, the Annual Greater Peoria Farm Show, Peoria Ballet's Nutcracker, Bill Maher and Kenny G - The Holiday Show.
