Key Club International to hold 62nd annual convention in Peoria
PEORIA, IL -Key Club members and officers will come together to share experiences and ideas for the 62nd annual Illinois Eastern Iowa Key Club District Convention on Mar. 23-25 at Four Points by Sheraton in Peoria.
Kicking off the three day convention are the committee and district meetings starting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 23. Another highlighted event is the "Mingle and Munch and Service Fair," where key club members will share ideas on how to better serve the community, at 4:30 p.m.
Taking place at 10 p.m. on Friday will be a talent show and an oratorical where participants will be provided the opportunity to compete for a trophy.
At 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 24 a charity walk for the Spastic Paralysis Research Foundation will take place. All money raised will go towards the Foundation and research to further knowledge on a cure for Spastic Paralysis.
At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday two members of each I-I District Key Club will be sent to be voting delegates at the annual House of Delegates, where new members of the I-I District Executive Board are elected. District resolutions and any proposed amendments are also voted on at this time.
Religious services will take place at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 25. The convention will conclude with the 2012 - 2013 I-I District Board Meeting at 11 a.m.
A hospitality dance for all members will take place at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Key Club International is a high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. Key Club helps assist Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.

The Key Club International's Illinois Eastern Iowa Key Club District Convention will create an economic impact of about $79,200 and fill 352 hotel rooms in the Peoria Area. There will be about 400 individuals in attendance.
The PACVB represents an eight county region including Bureau, Fulton, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford. The organization's mission is to promote the Peoria Area as a destination for visitors and contribute to the economic growth of the communities they represent.
