2009 Fall Science Education Conference


PEORIA, IL - The Illinois Science Teachers Association will be hosting its 2009 Science Education Conference, "From so Simple a Beginning... " November 13-14, 2009 at the Peoria Civic Center and the Hotel Pere Marquette.

Breakout sessions and workshops will include science topics ranging in physical and life sciences, to Earth/space sciences. Workshops will also include practical teaching and learning approaches as well as institutional science issues.

The Exhibit Hall opening will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m., with a Friday luncheon at noon, and a nighttime gala at 7 p.m. at the Lakeview Museum on Friday night. The cost for the gala is $35 in advance. Conference attendees should fill out a registration form, available online at, or there is a walk-in registry at the conference. The event is open to registered teachers in the state of Illinois.

            The PACVB represents an eight county region including Bureau, Fulton, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford. The organization's mission is to promote the Peoria Area as a destination for visitors and contribute to the economic growth of the communities they represent.

The Illinois Science Teachers Association 2009 State Convention will create an economic impact of $29,900 - $45,770 and 230 room nights for the Peoria Area. There will be approximately 600 attendees.
