Knights of Columbus Central Division Bowling Tournament

PEORIA - The Knights of Columbus International Bowling Association will be sponsoring the 84th annual Central Division Bowling Tournament at Peoria's Landmark Recreation Center from March 28 through April 26, 2009.

The tournament will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus Spalding Council #427 and will take place Saturdays and Sundays. There will be three divisions in the tournament, with the Team competitors bowling on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. and the Singles and Doubles bowlers squaring off Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively. There will be no competition on Easter weekend (April 11-12).

This year's tournament will be scored in both handicap and scratch style and is open to beginners and experts alike. 90 percent of the prize money will be awarded to the handicapped division, while the other 10 will go to the scratch winners. Bowlers will only be eligible to qualify for prizes in one division, per event.

Entry fees for the tournament are $100 per five-person team and $20 for each competitor in the singles and doubles divisions.

The mission of Peoria Area Sports is to provide coordination and support to existing sporting events as a part of the Peoria Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau, whose mission is to promote the Peoria Area as a destination for visitors and contribute to the economic growth of the communities they represent.
