New bridge at Black Partridge Park is complete thanks to preservation grant
METAMORA, IL - The Peoria Area Mountain Bike Association (PAMBA) in cooperation with the Metamora Park District, announces the completion of a 52-foot bridge at Black Partridge Park. The bridge was funded in part by a $500 International Mountain Bicycling Association and CLIF Bar Trail Preservation Grant awarded to PAMBA.
It is made out of 4x4 structural steel, green treat decking and handrails. The bridge is supported by a steel pillar that is filled with rock and sand. In total, it took 25 volunteers over 150 hours to fabricate and build the 3,000 pound bridge.
The new bridge at Black Partridge Park is a part of an extensive multi-use trail system that is enjoyed by nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts all seasons of the year. Directions to the park and information on future trail work days can be found at www.pambamtb.org.
