Illinois Pork Producers Association to hold 2010 State Convention
PEORIA, IL - The Illinois Pork Producers Association is set to host its 2010 Annual Illinois Pork Expo, "Working Through Challenging Times," February 2-3, 2010 at the Peoria Civic Center and Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria. This is the largest pork-specific trade show in Illinois, and is a great opportunity for leaders and members of the pork industry to network.
This year, the Pork Expo is planning on using a different format, one that is shorter but more concentrated. On ilpork.com, Chairman David Conrady of the Illinois Pork Expo said, "We think you will like the new format this year. Less time away from your business and more interaction with industry professionals."
Admission is free for all IPPA members. The IL Pork Expo is open to all pork producers and anyone with an interest in the pork industry. The IPPA Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and President of IPPA Phil Borgic will moderate. The trade show will open Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Wednesday will be a full day of seminars focused on producer/owners and operators in the pork industry. Topics will include environmental issues, a pork industry research update, animal welfare and export markets. Dr. Wes Jamison of Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida will be the keynote speaker. His presentation, "Ready For Combustion: Animals, Politics, Religion and the HSUS Campaign to Demoralize Agriculture," will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) is an agricultural trade association representing more than 2,900 pork producers throughout Illinois. IPPA provides producers with services that enhance profitability and preference for pork.
The PACVB represents an eight county region including Bureau, Fulton, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford. The organization's mission is to promote the Peoria Area as a destination for visitors and contribute to the economic growth of the communities they represent.
