From pediatric specialists and pediatric nurses to child life specialists, everything is centered around children. Children’s Hospital Congenital Heart Center is one of the Midwest’s top pediatric heart surgery programs. While most hospitals have only one or two pediatric specialists, Children’s Hospital of Illinois has more than 100, and is the only central Illinois hospital with a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level III neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital is dedicated to caring for the needs of children with on-site classrooms, kid-friendly menus and more.

OSF Saint Francis has been designated Magnet Status for nursing excellence, and is the area’s only Level I Trauma Center, the highest level designated in trauma care. Many patient at OSF Saint Francis are very ill, and come for specialty services not available anywhere else in downstate Illinois. The Illinois Neurological Institute (INI) has more than 30 neuroscience physicians who have built one of the most comprehensive neurological teams in the Midwest. The INI fights stroke, epilepsy and Parkinson’s, and treats spine tumors in minutes rather than hours. The Gamma Knife makes non-invasive brain surgery standard practice. OSF Saint Francis Heart Hospital is where more than 30 cardiovascular specialists and an elite team of caregivers earn national recognition for life-saving interventions and treatment. The Heart Hospital was Illinois’ first hospital to receive Joint Commission certification for heart attack care, and currently ranks 3rd in the state for heart attack “door to balloon” response times. OSF Saint Francis offers five outpatient centers, three PromptCare facilities and a community clinic. OSF Center for Health – Route 91, located in north Peoria, houses outpatient surgery, diagnostic services, urgent care, women’s services, the Susan G. Komen Breast Center and a physician office building.
Construction is well underway for the Milestone Project, a $280 million modernization of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center’s downtown campus, the largest privately-funded construction project ever in Peoria.
