returns to the Caterpillar Visitors Center through March
They helped build Caterpillar's yellow iron, but these employees were even better with a basketball in their hands. Before the NBA became what it is today, there was the
Caterpillar Diesels and the Peoria Cats - one of basketball's dominant teams.
The exhibit features photos, videos, the 1952 Olympic Gold Medal from Helsinki, Finland and several never before seen artifacts.

The Peoria Park District’s RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center and OSF Wellness services are proud to sponsor the fifth Biggest Loser at the RiverPlex! Let us help you reclaim your health!
The program begins January 10, 2015 with an orientation and kick-off event where all participants’ starting weights will be recorded. Competition and training begins the week of January 19 and will end on May 2.
Participants will compete to lose weight and body fat. Each individual will be put on a team of six to eight people, and each team will have two personal trainers to train them twice a week for 14 weeks. Teams will participate in Nutrition Sessions with a licensed OSF Registered Dietitian, and participants will have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the competition.
What’s included:
• Group Personal Training sessions, twice a week for 14 weeks
• Nutrition Sessions with OSF Registered Dietitians, once a week for 10 weeks
• Five Wellness Coaching sessions
• Weekly weigh-ins
• Two Bod Pod tests to test body fat percentages
• Circumference measurements
• One T-Shirt for each participant
• Prize opportunities throughout the competition, including a One-Year RiverPlex Membership, gift cards to Running Central, OSF nutrition sessions, a massage from ReNew, and more!
This program is for adults age 18 and older who have a substantial amount of weight to lose (15 pounds or more).
Cost for RiverPlex members is $545 before December 22 and $645 after December 22. Cost for non-members is $595 before December 22 and $695 after December 22. Payment plans are available.
The RiverPlex will host three informational meetings to provide details and answer questions about the program on the following dates: Thursday, November 6 at 12 p.m.; Tuesday, November 18 at 4:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, December 9 at 4:30 p.m.

NINTH ANNUAL 8TH GRADE ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAME

Want to see some of Peoria’s best future high school basketball players in action? Join us at Peoria Park District’s Proctor Recreation Center on Friday, March 27 for the Ninth Annual 8th Grade All-Star Basketball Game! See the best 8th grade boys and girls in the city showcase their talent and skills on the hardwood before moving on to high school.

Illinois Central College will host a Cover Crop Field Day on Friday, March 27, from 3-5 pm, on the East Peoria Campus. The field day will include a short presentation and plot tours for area farmers and agricultural businessmen.

Pete Fandel, an Associate Professor in agriculture and Illinois Council on Best Management Practices Cover Crop Specialist, is currently working with cover crop research at various locations in Central Illinois including many plots on the Illinois Central College campus. Participants will learn about different cover crop species and what some of the benefits of each species are, and will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding crop cover management in their own operations.

Participants may park in Lot G, which is off Hosta Lane, just to the south of the main entrance to ICC off Illinois Rt. 24.

A pair of exhibits opening Wednesday, March 18, will feature watercolors and photomontages in the Illinois Central College art galleries, located on the East Peoria Campus.

Still Life Reflections, an exhibit of watercolors of Peggy Flora Zalucha, opens March 18. The exhibit will be on display through April 17.

Flowers and Phenomena: an exhibit of the desert photomontages of Les Barta, will be on display in the ICC Performing Arts Center Gallery from March 18 through April 13.

Regular hours of operation for the art galleries at ICC are Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, and Friday from 9:30 am to noon. Galleries are closed during college holidays and breaks. Galleries will be closed on April 3. The Performing Arts Center Gallery also is accessible when the Performing Arts Center is open for public events.

The Peoria Park District’s Franciscan Recreation Complex (FRC) will host a Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, March 27 from 8:00-9:30 p.m.

Big kids ages 10-13 are invited to join us for this nighttime hunt for eggs filled with candy and plenty of prizes! Afterwards, participants can enjoy pizza, refreshments, and games.

Please be sure to wear weather and color-appropriate clothing. All participants will need to bring their own flashlights and prize bags.

Cost is $10/resident or $15/non-resident. Registration is required by March 25.

Registration for Softball at the Peoria Park District is currently underway! The season begins April 19 for both men’s and co-rec leagues. Leagues are offered Sunday through Friday evenings. All games will be played at Peoria Stadium, located at 315 E. War Memorial Drive in Peoria.

This celebration is to bring awareness to the full completion of RIT last spring to the community and to make use of it. Looking for a hopping good time? Bounce on over to the Peoria Zoo on Saturday, March 28 for our annual Easter Egg Scramble, loaded with candy and fun!
There will be three sessions broken down by age group: 10:30 am for children ages 0-3 years, 10:50 am for children ages 4-6 years, and 11:10 am for children ages 7-9 years.
