returns to the Caterpillar Visitors Center through March
They helped build Caterpillar's yellow iron, but these employees were even better with a basketball in their hands. Before the NBA became what it is today, there was the
Caterpillar Diesels and the Peoria Cats - one of basketball's dominant teams.
The exhibit features photos, videos, the 1952 Olympic Gold Medal from Helsinki, Finland and several never before seen artifacts.

Holding true to a solid long-standing tradition of community entertainment for all ages, the 2015 Peoria Area Community Events Brown Bag-It Series presents another season of fine musical performances. Held during the lunch hours in the heart of downtown Peoria, Brown Bag-It continues to offer a taste of quality local musicians with diversified talents and style.

From jazz combos to banjos, youth municipal bands to swing bands, PACE provides delightful melodies FREE for all ages. The season kicks off in June and runs through August. Entertainers perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza.

The Peoria Park District’s RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center and OSF Wellness services are proud to sponsor the fifth Biggest Loser at the RiverPlex! Let us help you reclaim your health!
The program begins January 10, 2015 with an orientation and kick-off event where all participants’ starting weights will be recorded. Competition and training begins the week of January 19 and will end on May 2.
Participants will compete to lose weight and body fat. Each individual will be put on a team of six to eight people, and each team will have two personal trainers to train them twice a week for 14 weeks. Teams will participate in Nutrition Sessions with a licensed OSF Registered Dietitian, and participants will have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the competition.
What’s included:
• Group Personal Training sessions, twice a week for 14 weeks
• Nutrition Sessions with OSF Registered Dietitians, once a week for 10 weeks
• Five Wellness Coaching sessions
• Weekly weigh-ins
• Two Bod Pod tests to test body fat percentages
• Circumference measurements
• One T-Shirt for each participant
• Prize opportunities throughout the competition, including a One-Year RiverPlex Membership, gift cards to Running Central, OSF nutrition sessions, a massage from ReNew, and more!
This program is for adults age 18 and older who have a substantial amount of weight to lose (15 pounds or more).
Cost for RiverPlex members is $545 before December 22 and $645 after December 22. Cost for non-members is $595 before December 22 and $695 after December 22. Payment plans are available.
The RiverPlex will host three informational meetings to provide details and answer questions about the program on the following dates: Thursday, November 6 at 12 p.m.; Tuesday, November 18 at 4:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, December 9 at 4:30 p.m.

Proctor Recreation Center will offer a Spring Break Basketball Camp for girls and boys ages 8-14 who want to improve their basketball skills and have fun during Easter Break.
Experience a week of teaching and training on the fundamentals of basketball including instruction in shooting, dribbling, passing and defense. In addition to basketball instruction, prominent speakers are brought in to give everyday life skills to each participant. Past speakers have included Larry Ivory from the Black Chamber of Commerce and Illinois Central College men’s head basketball coach Tony Wysinger. A free t-shirt and certificate will be given to all campers.
Camp runs Monday through Friday, March 30-April 2, from 9:00 am to Noon. Cost is $25 per resident player or $35 per non-resident player. Pre-registration is required. Some scholarships are available.

A pair of exhibits opening Wednesday, March 18, will feature watercolors and photomontages in the Illinois Central College art galleries, located on the East Peoria Campus.

Still Life Reflections, an exhibit of watercolors of Peggy Flora Zalucha, opens March 18. The exhibit will be on display through April 17.

Flowers and Phenomena: an exhibit of the desert photomontages of Les Barta, will be on display in the ICC Performing Arts Center Gallery from March 18 through April 13.

Regular hours of operation for the art galleries at ICC are Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, and Friday from 9:30 am to noon. Galleries are closed during college holidays and breaks. The Illinois Valley Archaeological Society (IVAS)

The Illinois Valley Archaeological Society (IVAS) gathers at Dickson Mounds Museum at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Each month there is a presentation on contemporary archaeological research in the region, which is open to the general public.  The lecture is followed by monthly meetings of IVAS members, who pay annual dues of $15 and receive the quarterly newsletter Illinois Antiquity.  We hope you will join us for the presentations and consider IVAS membership.
