The Festival of Lights offers so many different types of entertainment... our itineraries help to make the most of your valuable travel time. Use our ideas as is, or mix and match to custom build your own winter wonderland getaway!
DAY 1
Welcome to the Peoria area! Upon arriving, check into your hotel (choices can be found on our website), and prepare to attend the Festival of Lights 2006!
Your first stop will be dinner, of course! There are many varieties of restaurants in the area to choose from. Check our “Where to Eat” section for a list.
Then head to the Festival Building where you will experience FOLEPI’s Village: “Northwest Territory Christmas Village” designed and built by Randy Kellems and a thirty-minute indoor Laser Theater show.
Time for the lights! Travel through the two-mile experience of Winter Wonderland. Numerous animated displays and many lighted floats light the way!
When finished, stay in the bus and drive through the Narrated Nativity Scene. This gorgeous handmade attraction details “the reason for the season.”
A visit down to FOLEPI’s Riverfront Promenade is a must! The Illinois River at RiverFront Park in East Peoria will be lit by the carousel created from lights and numerous other illuminated attractions. This attraction is outdoors, so dress for the occasion!
DAY 2
Last minute shopping to do? Visit The Shoppes at Grand Prairie! With more than fifty stores, anchored by Bergner’s, Old Navy, Borders, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Linens N’ Things, you’re sure to find gifts for those special people in you life! You also have several options for lunch while at The Shoppes! Take your pick!
After lunch, shop a little more, and then head downtown to get more gifts marked off your list while experiencing a true art form: Glassblowing! A local artisan, Hiram Toraason, will give a demonstration and have Christmas ornaments on display for purchase.
Take a break at your hotel, and get ready for dinner. Have dinner at any of the area’s fine restaurants. A list of restaurants is in the “Where To Eat” section on the website.
End the evening while viewing one of the many holiday theater attractions. Peoria Players, Eastlight Theatre, Conklin’s Dinner Theater, Peoria Ballet, or Corn Stock Theater.
