The Illinois River Road National Scenic Byway received its designation from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in September 2005. Collaborative efforts from community leaders and the Byway’s steering committee have led the Byway efforts to date. The membership of the steering committee is diverse, both regionally and in terms of the organizations that its members represent – both state and federal agencies, the offices of state and federal officials, non-profit organizations, local and regional tourism and economic development entities, municipal and regional planning agencies and others. Our Byway is one of 126 America’s Byways across the United States. We hope you’ll visit our website often as we continue to grow.
