The land of Fulton County was granted to the veterans of the War of 1812, beginning the county's ties to American history. Communities such as Canton and Farmington were part of the Civil War's Underground Railroad, and WWII's Camp Ellis was situated near Ipava. Major attractions include the Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive, luring over 100,000 visitors to its antiques, crafts and shopping each fall, and Lewistown's Dickson Mounds Museum, one of the major on-site archeological museums in the nation. Fulton County is increasingly known for wildlife viewing and other outdoor recreation, offering beautiful parks and great grounds for hunting and fishing. Visit us at

Welcome to Princeville!

The village of Princeville was incorporated in 1874. Princeville is part of the Peoria Metropolitan Statistical area, and is located just 15 miles from the city, an urban population center of more 350,000. Princeville is linked by Interstate 74 and State Highways 90 and 91. The Burlington Northern - Santa Fe railroad passes along the village’s south side.

Princeville Area residents work to maintain its friendly, safe, clean and diverse image. The village, with its active and prosperous downtown, strives to enhance its economic vitality through retention and expansion of local businesses, new job creation and tax revenue. The people seek to build a modern infrastructure to support growth, while maintaining its small-town charm and sense of family and community.

Princeville is a "small in size, big in opportunities" and is home to Princeville High Scholl, Princeville Grade School and numerous businesses. History, hiking and camping are popular at nearby Jubilee State Park. Come visit the Princeville Heritage Museum, the Princeville Aquatic Center (limited season) and the Rock Island Trail located within the Village of Princeville.
