Peoria Zoological Society (PZS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and realizing the “new” Peoria Zoo. Its mission is to support the growth of Peoria Zoo. Peoria Zoological Society was formed in 1997 to lead the effort for the new Zoo. Torre Design Consortium was hired and after significant community involvement, a Master Plan was completed and adopted. In 2002, the Peoria Park District and Peoria Zoological Society signed an agreement regarding the expansion of the Zoo and fundraising efforts began. PZS is currently raising funds, with the Junior League of Peoria and Peoria Park District, to continue expansion of the Peoria Zoo and build the Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum. The future children's museum and zoo will be steps apart from each other in Glen Oak Park, creating a day long destination for children and families to learn through play. One of the ways we support our mission is by holding events that raise funds and show the members of our community the many ways the Zoo can be enjoyed. Visit www.peoriazoo.org or call the Development Office at (309) 681-3500 for information on events and how you can help play your part!
