The Peoria Area has a variety of nature-based adventure hot spots that are one-of-a-kind and are a must to explore. From technical mountain biking trail systems and scenic biking trails to recreational walking trails and adventurous backpacking-the Peoria Area has it all!

ADVENTUROUS BIKERS

Jubilee College State Park - Explore their 3,200 acres of scenic, rolling topography turn into the largest single-track system in the area.

Black Partridge Park - The newest trail system in the area, located in Woodford County, will encompass more than 15 miles of single track when completed.

Farmdale Reservoir - Located in Tazewell County, this trail offers more than 20 miles of a variety of tracks ranging in difficulty.

RECREATIONAL BIKERS, RUNNERS OR WALKERS

Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park - Spend the day and bring a picnic lunch along. There are plenty of picnic tables at the 104.5-mile linear park which spans five counties.

Rock Island State Trail - Beauty and solitude await you on 26 miles of natural and architectural attractions in a tree canopied corridor of crushed limestone 50-100 feet wide.

River Trail of Illinois - Enjoy hiking and biking along this 5-mile stretch of the old Illinois Railway line located in East Peoria.

MODERATE HIKERS

Forest Park Nature Center - This 500-acre Illinois nature preserve offers 7 miles of hiking trails ranging from rigorous uphill courses to flatter paths.

Wildlife Prairie State Park - Discover 10 miles of hiking trails at Wildlife State Park. Take a leisurely hike through Merrill Woods or tackle the tough terrain of the Floodplain Hiking Trail.

With the Illinois River in our backyard and several kayaking lakes and rivers within our eight counties, perhaps you'll need to extend your stay to explore it all! The Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, Emiquon National Refuge and the Marshall County State Fish and Wildlife Area are only a few of the sites in the Peoria Area open to fishing, wildlife viewing, boating and bird watching.
