Downtown Pekin and Enjoy Peoria ring in the holiday season with the 17th annual Christmas on Court sponsored by CEFCU, Pekin Insurance and Pekin Community Bank.

Downtown Pekin will celebrate the holidays at the 17th annual Christmas on Court shop and stroll event from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6. Christmas on Court will be held on the 300-600 blocks of Court Street in Pekin. Participating downtown businesses will be open late offering treats and activities to attendees.

In addition to shopping, the popular scavenger hunt will be held for the third year. Participants that complete the scavenger hunt by visiting all participating businesses on their card will be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket valued at approximately $150.

Those in attendance can also expect free horse-drawn carriage rides throughout the event starting in front of the Tazewell County Courthouse. Join Pekin Mayor Mark Luft at 6:00 p.m. for the official tree lighting at Five Points near Pekin Community Bank. Families also can visit with Santa at Pekin Community Bank.

"Christmas on Court is one of our community's favorite events," said Mayor Luft. "The excitement and beauty this event brings to our downtown is truly a sight to see. Without the volunteers and outstanding efforts of the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, this event would not be possible. Thank you to all who make this happen and I look forward to seeing all of you there!"

"We are privileged to once again help showcase all the unique shopping and experiences that downtown Pekin has to offer," said Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau President/CEO J.D. Dalfonso. "Christmas on Court is a perfect event to take your family out and experience Pekin. Thanks to the hard work by Mayor Luft and the City, I believe this year's event is highly anticipated."
