The German-American Central Society was formed in the late 1920’s. German American clubs of one form or another have been in the Peoria area for over 150 years. The purpose and objectives of the corporation shall be to promote German culture in the Peoria, Illinois area, including singing, sports, and good fellowship. Members of good character, especially those of German background and/or ancestry, are encouraged to become involved.The GACS owns two properties. The Lindenhof, 7601 N Harker Avenue and home of the GACS, is open each Friday night to the general public for German style buffets. The Lindenhof features a full bar and kitchen. The Lindenhof also hosts other German related events such as our very popular Kristkindlmarkt. Hickory Grove Park, just north of Peoria, off of Route 40 in Dunlap, is setup much like a traditional German biergarten. The GACS host six major public events each summer at this property.Both facilities are available for rentals.
