Marshall County
Located directly north of Peoria County is a county that is full of rich Illinois history but is quickly evolving to rival the amenities of big cities. In the heart of Marshall County is Lacon, a thriving community with a close tie to President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln visited the county on at least four occasions and both Lincoln and Douglas visited Lacon in 1854 and were set to both make speeches in front of the courthouse, though neither spoke.
Marshall County’s Old Settlers Festival will be celebrating its 150th year in 2020! This annual county festival is held at the marina in Lacon and features a unique festival theme each year. The festival also features a 5K and 10K, parade, stage entertainment and cruise in.
History is all around you at The Coffee Hub which is located on the main floor of a building that is 100 years old. Enjoy locally roasted coffee with homemade treats, ice cream from Uncle Bob’s in Eureka and check out the local art that lines the wall. Open seven days a week, there is plenty of time to visit, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee while visiting Marshall County.
