We hope you can join us on May 2, at 7:30 p.m. or May 3 at 2:30 p.m., as Dr. Joseph Henry and the Peoria Area Civic Chorale perform A Few of Our Favorite Things at the Performing Arts Center at Illinois Central College in East Peoria. This delightful family-centered concert will feature selections from composers such as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, John Rutter, and Moses Hogan. There will be a mixture of genres represented such as Spirituals like "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho" and "Oh, What a Beautiful City," American classics like "Home on the Range," and "America the Beautiful," and an abundance of child-friendly Disney Movie selections from Frozen, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, 101 Dalmations, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Pocahontas, and Toy Story. Also featuring the PACC Youth Chorus and a special men's invitational choir, it will be an event you won't want to miss. Meet us at ICC's Performing Arts Center in May as we share our gifts of beautiful music!

Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Championships

The 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Championship will be held on May 1-3 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill., It will mark the 11th straight year the GLVC Softball Championship will be held at the EastSide Centre.  The 2014 event will also mark the 31st annual GLVC Softball Championship.
 
The EastSide Centre is one of the nation's top softball facilities and annually hosts numerous events throughout the year. Mizuno Field, EastSide Centre's championship softball field, was named the Softball Field of the Year by the Sports Turf Managers Association in 2008.
 
Eight teams will vie for the 2014 GLVC crown and the opportunity to represent the conference at the NCAA Division II National Championship. Those eight teams will consist of the top three teams from the East Division, the top three teams from the West Division and two wildcard teams.

Missouri-St. Louis needed eight innings to earn its first-ever GLVC Softball Championship last season after earning an 3-2 victory over Lewis.  Sophmore Katie Wood delivered a two-out walk-off home run in the eighth inning in the win.

51st Annual Rennick Juried Art Show

The 51st Annual Rennick Juried Art Show highlights the artistic talents of our community members. Art work is open to oil painting, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, colored pencil, charcoal, mixed media, photography, pottery, porcelain, sculpture, glass, textiles, fiber art and printmaking.  Work must depcit a Central Illinois theme from within a 100 mile radius from the tri-county area.  This may include landmarks, nature, landscapes, events, animals or people.  All work must be completed in the last two years and framed and ready for hanging or display. Artist reception will be May 16, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Peoria Public Library LL gallery. Please call the PHS office at 309-674-1921 for more information.

Garden Walks with an Exuberant Gardener

Walking through the garden as the seasons unfold, we will explore the often overlooked beauty of the Garden. Trees, shrubs, grasses and perennials that exhibit an attractive presence will be spotlighted. Sunday, May 3rd it’s PNC KIDS EAT FREE & Bark in the Park!  Bring the whole family (even the dog) for a Sunday at Dozer Park.  Kids 12 & under are only $5.00 and will receive a FREE hot dog, chips & drink.  Plus, prior to the game play catch on the field and get an autograph from your favorite Chiefs.  The first 1,000 will also receive a poster of Chiefs catcher Steve Bean courtesy of PJStar.com and kids run the bases after the game.   Dogs will be limited to grass berm areas only.   Don’t stand in line…. Go online!


Homer's Reading Program Night

This is a great opportunity for your kids to earn a free game ticket. There will be a parade and with your kids' participation, will have their school honored in our pregame ceremony!

Holding true to a solid long-standing tradition of community entertainment for all ages, the 2015 Peoria Area Community Events Brown Bag-It Series presents another season of fine musical performances. Held during the lunch hours in the heart of downtown Peoria, Brown Bag-It continues to offer a taste of quality local musicians with diversified talents and style.

From jazz combos to banjos, youth municipal bands to swing bands, PACE provides delightful melodies FREE for all ages. The season kicks off in June and runs through August. Entertainers perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza.

With international acclaim and its storied history, Legends In Concert, owned and operated by On Stage Enterprises, is known as the pioneer of live tribute shows and possesses the greatest collection of live tribute artists and celebrity look-alikes in the industry. Each universally renowned performer not only looks and sounds like the star they portray, they transform themselves through hours of practice at their craft. This is accomplished by using their own natural voices and every detail is taken into consideration from choreography, to hair, make-up and mannerisms.
