Peoria's Irish community comes together for what is considered the largest Irish festival in Illinois  outside  of Chicago.

It's a safe bet this year's festival will be a celebration you won't want to miss! This 3-day event showcases Irish heritage through song, dance, food, drink, cultural exhibits and much more. Don't miss the talented Irish bands and musicians on multiple stages, vendor marketplace, and much more! So put on your favorite green outfit and head down to the RiverFront - everyone is a little bit Irish!

Fighting hunger and feeding families is what we’re all about – but we can’t do it without YOU and our community coming together as one to help those in need.  

Join us on Saturday and Sunday, August 29-30th for a community-wide food drive that will benefit local food pantries through distribution of goods by Midwest Food Bank. EVERY Kroger location in our area is participating!  That’s 12 locations collecting food for those in need all on the same day!How can you help?  We’re glad you asked!

PROMOTE the food drive to your circle of influence
SUPPORT the food drive with resources – we need banners, radio spots, print advertising
VOLUNTEER at the event with your family & friends.  You can sign-up to help out at a collection site by going online to SignUpGenius using the link below.  Be sure to bring water and snacks….healthy & hydrated volunteers are happy volunteers!
PARTICIPATE by donating dry or canned foods OR however you can!

Wheels O’ Time Museum, 1710 W. Woodside Dr., Dunlap, Il 61525, (N. Knoxville & W. Woodside Dr.) has a new display in the for July in the Early Ford V8 show room featuring antique Ford and Ford powered tractors.

The “tractors with stories” on display are:

1931 8N with only 125 original hours,

restored Ford 8N

Other tractors at Wheels O’ Time Museum are John Deere, IH, Caterpillar, Best and Holt.

In addition to the special display for the month of July more tractors will be at museum for a few days later in the month. The Central Illinois Farm Heritage Tractor Club will display tractors at the Heart of Illinois Fair July 10-19th.

(www.citractorclub.com). Some of the tractors from the Heritage Tractor Club will relocate to Wheels O’ Time Museum for an outdoor display July 19-24th. They will be available to view during the hours the museum is open Wednesday-Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Admission: $6.50 adults, $3.50 ages 3-11. The museum has other antique farm implements and many ongoing displays in four buildings.

Croatian Fraternal Union Sacred Heart Lodge 367 Canton, Illinois Kas a tamburitza musical group from Osijek Croatia, along with vocalist Igor Delac will tour The United States, with stops in Kansas City, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, and Pittsburg, along with Toronto Canada.

Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 367 of Canton will once again be a host on the National CFU Cultural Tour. On Sunday August 30, Kas will present a concert at the Canton VFW Hall, 1200 S. 5th Avenue Canton Illinois.

The concert will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Admission will be $5 for adults, children will be admitted free of charge.

We will have a sarma (stuffed cabbage) dinner, along with sandwiches available from 3:30-5:00 p.m. The sarma dinner will cost $10 and include salad and dessert.

(N. Knoxville & W. Woodside Dr.) has a new display ”Ford trucks through the ages” for the month of September in the Early Ford V8 show room.

The museum has 30,000 sq. ft. of on going exhibits also on display including, steam locomotive, 40 cars, Caterpillar Tractors, Best and Holt Tractors and much more.

The Illinois Valley Archaeological Society (IVAS)

September 2, 2015 - 7 pm

The Illinois Valley Archaeological Society (IVAS) gathers at Dickson Mounds Museum at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Each month there is a presentation on contemporary archaeological research in the region, which is open to the general public.  The lecture is followed by monthly meetings of IVAS members, who pay annual dues of $15 and receive the quarterly newsletter Illinois Antiquity.  We hope you will join us for the presentations and consider IVAS membership.
