The Peoria Historical Society offers Trolley Tours in the Peoria Heights and Peoria areas. You can explore the area’s past with one of the fascinating, historical tours. The 2015 summer schedule will be Thursday & Friday departing from Harp & Thistle in Peoria Heights at 11 am. and Saturdays from Kelleher’s on Water St in Peoria at 11 am and 1:30 pm. Tours will be offered from June through the end of October. Many Peoria Heights Chamber members will offer special discounts with your trolley ticket in our boutiques, unique shops, and restaurants. Peoria's Irish community comes together for what is considered the largest Irish festival in Illinois  outside  of Chicago.

It's a safe bet this year's festival will be a celebration you won't want to miss! This 3-day event showcases Irish heritage through song, dance, food, drink, cultural exhibits and much more. he 2015 Bishop Hill Chautaugua Celebrates its Third Year by expanding to Two Days! Celebrate the life of Abraham Lincoln and the end of the Civil War at the Bishop Hill Chautauqua on Saturday and Sunday, August 29 & 30, 2015. In its third year the Chautauqua is adding a second day. There will also be a morning workshop for teachers, actors, students and home-schoolers on "Stepping into Character" how to research and write first person monologues. Plus there will be a special youth component with students from Geneseo and Williamsfield performing on the main stage Sunday afternoon. This FREE event is sponsored by the Bishop Hill Heritage Association, Illinois Humanities, The Illinois Arts Council, private donations and the Twinflower Inn Bed and Breakfast. Wheels O’ Time Museum, 1710 W. Woodside Dr., Dunlap, Il 61525, (N. Knoxville & W. Woodside Dr.) has a new display in the for July in the Early Ford V8 show room featuring antique Ford and Ford powered tractors.

The “tractors with stories” on display are:

1931 8N with only 125 original hours,

Other tractors at Wheels O’ Time Museum are John Deere, IH, Caterpillar, Best and Holt.

In addition to the special display for the month of July more tractors will be at museum for a few days later in the month. The Central Illinois Farm Heritage Tractor Club will display tractors at the Heart of Illinois Fair July 10-19th.

(www.citractorclub.com). Some of the tractors from the Heritage Tractor Club will relocate to Wheels O’ Time Museum for an outdoor display July 19-24th. They will be available to view during the hours the museum is open Wednesday-Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Admission: $6.50 adults, $3.50 ages 3-11. The museum has other antique farm implements and many ongoing displays in four buildings.

Chautauqua Workshop: Stepping into Character with Brian "Fox" Ellis, Saturday, August 29, 10 a.m. at the Steeple Building located at 103 N. Bishop Hill Street in Bishop Hill, IL. Professional Storyteller and Author Brian "Fox" Ellis will be offering a 2 hour workshop for teachers, actors, students, and home-schoolers. This workshop is designed to help educators bring history to life through first person monologues.We will explore research, writing and performing as characters from the past, presenting lessons plans easily adapted for various grade levels, helping teachers integrate the curriculum through creative non-fiction This workshop is for ages 10 and up. Join us on Saturday and Sunday, August 29-30th for a community-wide food drive that will benefit local food pantries through distribution of goods by Midwest Food Bank. EVERY Kroger location in our area is participating!  That’s 12 locations collecting food for those in need all on the same day!How can you help?  We’re glad you asked!

SUPPORT the food drive with resources – we need banners, radio spots, print advertising

27th Annual Duck Race benefiting The Center for Prevention of Abuse

Each year, The Center for Prevention of Abuse provides safety and support to over 5,000 women, men and children...of all ages....who have been affected by domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, elder abuse, and abuse of adults with disabilities. Additionally, The Center provides school based prevention education to approximately 20,000 students each year, focusing on body safety, positive conflict resolution, anti-bullying, and healthy relationships.

The Duck Race is The Center's largest fundraiser and the success of the Race is essential in raising funds to fill the gaps in funding. Because of our very generous Duck Race sponsors, every dollar raised goes directly towards our programs.
