West Peoria’s original stag bar, Mike’s Tavern first opened its doors in 1938. Purchased from Mike Jakoby in 1976, Tony Ward owned and operated Mike’s for over 35 years. Though women have now long been welcome in Mike’s, little else has changed. Mike’s is your original, no frills neighborhood tavern. Full of character, memories, and most of all friends, Mike’s has stood the test of time. In 2020 Mark Donahue and Bob Bullock purchased Mike’s Tavern from the Ward family and have continued the legacy. Might just be the best Garage Bar around according to Colin Knox.
