Where to Go for Sushi

Sushi makes ‘miso’ happy! However you ‘roll’, you’ll find a sushi spot to match your cravings in Greater Peoria.

Dang Banh Mi + Poke  {Peoria}    //   Dang Bang Mi + Poke is known for their tasty poke bowls made with simple, fresh ingredients. Although a poke bowls isn’t the traditional sushi, it goes without saying, this dish made with raw fish, heart-healthy fats, and fresh vegetables like cucumbers, ginger and edamame definitely incorporates the traditional sushi ingredients.  Recommended bowl: Dang Signature Poke Bowl (salmon, tuna, mango, ginger, edamame, masago, sesame seeds, avocado with teriyaki and poke sauce)

Hokkaido  {Peoria}    //   There is something for everyone at Hokkaido. Yes they have great sushi, but they also have many flavors of Asia including hibachi, Korean barbeque and Thai.  Recommended roll:  Las Vegas (crabmeat, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese and spicy mayo)

Okinawa Hibachi Sushi Ramen  {Peoria}    //   The newest Japanese spot in town offers sushi, ramen, and hibachi classics! Located in the Campustown Shopping Center, Okinawa offers traditional Japanese faire made with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Recommended roll:  Okinawa Roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, topped with salmon, crabmeat, green onion, masago, eel sauce and spicy mayo)

Osaka Hibachi + Sushi Bar  {Peoria}    //   Osaka’s location inside The Shoppes at Grand Prairie make it a great stop for lunch or dinner.  For lunch, try the bento box to build your perfect plate. For dinner, sit grillside and watch your hibachi dinner get made right in front of your eyes.  Recommended roll: Sexy Boy (spicy tuna, cilantro,  jalapeño, yellowtail and denbu)

Oyama Sushi  {Morton}    //  Oyama Sushi in Morton is always packed with people looking for straightforward rolls, nigiri, specialty rolls, superb appetizers, excellent udon dishes, flavorfully-breaded tempura, and excellent hibachi entrees. Recommended roll:  America Dream Roll (king crab and mango inside, topped with avocado, crab salad, red tobiko, and drizzled with chef’s special sauce)

Shogun Japanese Restaurant  {East Peoria}    //   Shogun is a great spot for sushi, sashimi, maki rolls, and nigiri. Even better, if you’re looking for a variety, you can also order Japanese bento boxes, Thai cuisine, fresh hibachi, spicy cajun entrees, and classic Chinese dishes! Recommended roll:  Mount Fuji Roll (deep fried crunchy roll. Smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese inside, topped with jalapeno pepper, spicy mayo, and eel sauce)

Sushigawa  {Peoria}    //   This intimate restaurant is a local favorite, regularly topping review sites like Yelp and Tripadvisor. Mix and match your favorite sushi, sashimi and nigiri for a unique sampling.  Recommended roll:  Pink Lady (tuna, crunch and fried shrimp)

Sushi Ko  {Peoria}    //   No need to choose between crab rangoon or california rolls, you’ll find both Japanese and Chinese favorites here. For those who enjoy spice, there are many options to fire up your taste buds.   Recommended roll:  Spider (crabmeat, soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, lettuce, spicy mayo)
